Food search
Searching for a food should not require knowing which database it lives in. One query goes across everything you have logged before, everything you have created, the shared catalog, and branded products — and comes back as a single ranked list.
Open it in the appExact matches win
Typing "milk" should not return "Milk Chocolate Digestive Biscuits" above milk. Ranking puts exact and prefix matches first, then your own history, then everything else.
Same-named duplicates from different sources are collapsed at search time, so one food appears once even when four import runs each contributed a copy of it.
What you eat surfaces first
Foods you have logged before are weighted up, and the portion you normally take is pre-filled rather than defaulting to 100g. Over a few weeks most searches become one tap and a confirmation.
Questions
- Where does the nutrition data come from?
- A mix of public reference data, branded product databases, and foods created by you. Each food records where its numbers came from, and conflicting sources are reconciled rather than averaged blindly.
- What if the food is not there?
- Create it in a few fields, or describe the dish in plain language and let the app propose ingredients and nutrition for you to check.
