Portions and household measures
Nobody weighs a roti. Portions are the part of food logging that quietly decides whether the numbers mean anything, so the units on offer are the ones people already think in.
Household measures are first-class
Indian household measures — katori, roti, glass, tablespoon — are seeded across the catalog with real gram weights behind them, not rounded guesses. Picking "1 katori" logs a specific mass.
Where a food has a natural unit, that unit is the default. Grams are always available underneath for when you do have a scale.
One portion control everywhere
Search results, the log, the planner and the recipe builder all use the same portion control and the same unit resolution. A serving means the same thing in every screen, which sounds obvious and was not always true.
Questions
- Can I add my own unit?
- You can set a default portion and unit on any food you create, which covers the common case of "my mug" or "the small bowl".
- Does it handle cooked versus raw?
- Foods are catalogued as they are eaten where possible — cooked dishes carry cooked weights — so you are not converting in your head.
